St Peter’s Church of England First School, which is located near the housebuilder’s Olive Park development, received a brand new snow machine as part of the school’s Winter Solstice performance.

In 2024, David Wilson Homes also donated towards the school’s music department, which granted the pupils access to a number of new instruments.

Staff, parents and members of the local community were able to witness what the Uttoxeter children have learned so far in their musical journeys, and after the show, the pupils were then surprised with snowfall as they left Uttoxeter Village Hall.

Jonathan Farrington, Interim Headteacher at St Peter’s Church of England First School, said: “The support of David Wilson Homes to develop our music curriculum provision has been invaluable! We now have a dedicated music area in our school to showcase all of the instruments which the grant provided, as well as enhancing our music lessons too. The children relish the opportunity to develop their musical talent in our music lessons.

“After the success of our Summer Solstice Sounds, we planned in a date for our Winter Solstice Sounds and what a night it was! We were entertained for a full evening of musical performances from children of all ages. It was fantastic to see just how much their musical talent had developed since the Summer which could not have been possible without the support of David Wilson Homes.

“The snow machine added an extra touch of ‘Christmas magic’ and ensured that all left for the Christmas break feeling festive as could be!”

Amanda Bishop, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “As a leading housebuilder, we aim to support the communities in which we build, and this includes helping children to get creative and enjoy everything that music has to offer.

“We are delighted that the children put on a performance using the instruments that had been bought earlier in 2024 following our donation and can’t wait to hear all about the children’s musical journeys.

“We hope the children at St Peter’s First School will continue to enjoy using the instruments and that they enjoyed the surprise of the snow machine at the end of the evening.”
