Staffordshire carer ‘Set For Life’ after £10k-a-month-for-30-years win
A professional carer from Stoke, whose first instincts after finding out about her National Lottery Set For Life win were to take care of her nearest and dearest, is now also set to ‘soak up’ some well-deserved self-care with a brand-new hot tub.
Sandra Hall, 61, who will continue working as a carer after 19 years devoted to looking after others, will spend of bit more time indulging herself in the soon-to-be bought hot tub engraved with her winning Set For Life numbers.
“It’s always been who I am to try and look after others, it’s my vocation. Sometimes I get reminded by family and friends that I need to do something for myself”, explained Sandra.
“So, when I found out that I’d just won the top prize on Set For Life, I knew my one treat would be a hot tub! As for my winning numbers engraved on it, I want to remind myself how lucky I have been every time I take a dip.”
Fiancee John, 59, who Sandra will marry in April next year and who is a Duchy farmer, is testament to Sandra’s instincts to put others first. Sandra explained, “He’s been needing a new van for work and when I won I immediately put a deposit down on one, and when the first £10,000 landed in my bank account I insisted on paying off the balance.”
Sandra’s generosity won’t stop there, and she plans to pay for her sister’s new bathroom and new decking at her mum’s house. She has also recently donated her wedding dress to charity, and after her win she’s looking forward to shopping for a new one for her and John’s big day next year.
Sandra said, “If I can help my family and others out I absolutely will and that’s one of the most amazing things about winning. It hit me when the first £10,000 payment landed in my bank account…I’ve got 359 of these same payments still left to go!’
“The possibilities are pretty much endless and I will be treating myself to a few other luxuries soon. I’ll definitely be booking luxury weekends breaks and it’ll be very nice to go shopping and not look at the price for once!”
Sandra summed up, “This win is incredible, I’m not sure it’s still fully sunk in! You always hope you’ll win, otherwise why would you play, but to actually know that I really am set for life is a dream come true for me. It won’t change me but it will mean that, while I continue to care for others, I can make sure that I also care for myself too.”
Sandra won the top prize on The National Lottery’s Set For Life game by playing online in the draw on May 8, after matching the five main numbers and the Life Ball. The winning numbers in the draw were: 6, 7, 31, 38, 42, plus Life Ball 6.
