Sandwell man set to conquer Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Standing at a staggering 5,895 metres (19,341 feet), Kilimanjaro is no easy feat. Battling altitude sickness, freezing temperatures, and steep terrain over 11 gruelling days, Mathew Whitehouse will trek the Lemosho Route, considered one of the most scenic but demanding paths to the summit. work they do.

Why It Matters
Birmingham Children’s Hospital cares for more than 90,000 sick kids every year, providing specialist treatment and critical support to families across the UK. Donations raised through this challenge will help fund vital equipment, research, and mental health services.
Mathew has already begun training, climbing peaks across the UK including Snowdon and Scafell Pike, and preparing for the extreme conditions he’ll face on Kilimanjaro — from baking equatorial heat to sub-zero summit nights.
