Specsavers on Park Street, which is locally owned and run, donated food items to the Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS), a charity that provides vital support to individuals facing difficult circumstances. Founded in 2013, the organisation is inspired by the Sikh principle of Langar, a community kitchen that offers free meals to all.

"Supporting our local community is something the whole team is really passionate about," comments Specsavers Walsall store director, Jagroop Uppal. "MLSS is a fantastic charity offering vital support to individuals and families facing hardship. They also help our younger generation to make positive life choices through their community hub, offering a positive outlet to channel energy and talent.

"Their ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour and knife crime are invaluable. We often see the MLSS team out in the evenings, creating a safer environment and fostering a strong sense of community spirit.

"The team and I are incredibly proud to support such a fantastic charity and hope our contribution helps make a difference in our local area. We’re looking forward to continuing our support of the charity moving forward, and have plans to get involved in their outreach here in Walsall."

MLSS distributes approximately 37,000 meals per month across the UK alone. The charity’s efforts focus on providing hot meals to vulnerable people, including the homeless, individuals in schools and safe houses, and those living on the poverty line. This service is extended to all without prejudice, reflecting the inclusive nature of the Sikh faith.
