Aldi colleague in Birmingham celebrates 20 years at the supermarket
An Aldi colleague in Birmingham is celebrating their work anniversary after 20 years at the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket.
Phil Ethelston, an Assistant Store Manager at the Edgbaston store, first joined the supermarket in 2005 after previously working as a customer service advisor.
Phil is an integral part of Aldi’s Edgbaston team and has gone above and beyond in his role over the years.
Phil has taken part in several of Aldi’s fundraisers for the supermarket’s dedicated charity Teenage Cancer Trust, including push up challenges and running every day throughout November, raising almost £2,000 so far.
Speaking of his time at Aldi, Phil commented: “I love how dynamic and interesting the role is every day. It is wonderful to work alongside such great colleagues, and to help create an environment where we can all develop and be successful. I’m also very grateful that Aldi gave me the opportunity to meet and fall in love with my wonderful wife.”
As for a Specialbuy that gets him running to the middle aisle, Phil said: “I can’t walk past the hot tubs without wishing I had more room in my garden!”
Marius Manolescu, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “With around 45,000 colleagues in the UK, it’s fair to say that people are our biggest and most brilliant asset at Aldi.
“Phil is no exception, and his commitment to Aldi’s values is testament to why we are loved by so many. We look forward to celebrating even more of his achievements in the coming years.”
