Lichfield housebuilder donates more than £2,200 to local organisations
A housebuilder is supporting five Lichfield organisations in their missions to help the community.
Redrow Midlands, which is currently building at Curborough Lakes, on Watery Lane, has donated a total of £2,213 to Five Spires PTFA, Burntwood Memorial Community Centre, Holly Grove Primary Academy, Happy Healthy Cycling and Liberty Jamboree.
The contributions are part of the Redrow Midlands community fund, a £7,500 pot launched last year to provide local causes with donations to help them thrive.
Five Spires PTFA applied for the fund to improve the outdoor space and broaden the variety of sports on offer at Five Spires Academy. Through introducing new games in the playground, the organisation hopes to enable less traditionally sporty children in the school to exercise in a way that is more fun and accessible. The school was awarded £517 from Redrow Midlands and used this to purchase Giant Connect 4, Cannonball Drop, a playhouse and roleplay equipment.
Sharon Motorny, Deputy Head at Five Spires Academy, said: “We are thrilled to have enhanced our outdoor play opportunities following the generous donation from Redrow Midlands. The new additions are already proving popular, helping our children to develop vital social skills and teamwork through imaginative and inclusive play. We have been able to broaden the variety of physical activities available to our children, making exercise more fun and accessible for all.”
Another cause to benefit was Burntwood Memorial Community Centre, which runs a community film afternoon connecting locals. The group received £500 from Redrow Midlands to offer refreshments at each session as well as a new projector to watch movies.
Meanwhile, Holly Grove Primary Academy benefited from a £266 donation to purchase new bicycle racks to encourage children to cycle to school, while Happy Healthy Cycling – a volunteer-run cycling and running group – was awarded £450 to acquire a bicycle and helmet to offer on loan for each session.
Finally, Liberty Jamboree, which offers a variety of after-school activities for young people with learning and physical disabilities, received £480 from the community fund. The money has been put towards the expansion of the club’s five-a-side football league, with kits bought for the two new teams.
Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director at Redrow Midlands, said: “We are incredibly proud to be able to support these wonderful organisations through our community fund. These groups carry out exceptionally important work in the Lichfield community, and we hope that our donations will allow them to continue doing so.”
