So far in 2025 members had enjoyed talks from a member of the Dudley Caving Club, learnt all about a wonderful organization called “Discover You” and about the career of Roger (The Dodger) Edwards in the World of TV Game Shows.

May brought Sally Jenkins with her talk entitled “Richard Osman & me”. She described the difficulties getting a book published but that after many rejections she finally made it.

She began way back in 1990 writing articles and short stories for magazines and after visiting Zagreb in Croatia to their Museum of Broken Relationships she had an idea for her first novel. It seems her only connection to Richard Osman was at one time they used the same publisher when his book “The Thursday Murder Club” sold 700,000 copies. She has since written more novels and had them published.

Meetings are held on the second Friday each month at The Lodge, Wellington Road, Dudley 12pm for 12.30pm departing at 3pm. The next luncheon is on June 13, when the speaker will be about Domestic Pest Control and in July the subject is “The Black Country – is that somewhere near Leeds?”.

Visitors are most welcome and can attend three times before deciding to join. For more information ring Chairman Ann Rogers on 01384 273511 or secretary on 01902 372984 email jillgriffithsme7@gmail.com
