Etchinghill WI news, May 2025
On Wednesday May 14th we celebrated the group 79th birthday
The first meeting of this fledgling Wi was held locally by a Mrs Upton in her sitting room. Through organising various events they managed to raise enough funds to enable a village hut to be built in Etchinghill. This eventually became the modern brick building we now know as the village hall where our monthly meetings continue to be held to this day. It is a wonderful achievement that as a group we continue to thrive through our commitment from members and the committee team.
Last month the Helen Dawson Trophy was awarded to Lynn Baxter as overall winner of competitions held throughout the year.
Plans are underway for future outings, namely afternoon tea at Brocton Golf Club, in July and a visit to Kelmscott Manor in September.

The recent successful Murder Mystery Evening raised just over £300 for our WI Group.
On matters arising the President Mrs Margaret Devey welcomed two new members and passed on birthday wishes for May to, Chris Stinton and Celia Wright. The speaker for June is Peter Norbury who will give a talk on Dangerous Animals.
Our party celebrations continued with an American Buffet style banquet with food plates provided by our members accompanied by a glass of Bucks Fizz all of which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The social time consisted of a fun Beetle Drive with teams competing with each other to finish the Beetle in the quickest time.
We meet every second Wednesday at the village hall in Etchinghill. New members are welcome . If you are interested , come along for a taster session. Alternatively you can contact us on etchinghillwistaffs@gmail.com
