Dozens of Year 13 students received awards in all subjects, along with glowing citations from their teachers.

Student of the Year went to Mollie Kirk, who was described as “having the characteristics of a perfect sixth former”, supportive, with dogged determination, who had been a privilege to teach.

Role model and mentor to younger students Rosie Linney, was awarded the Kindness and Respect: Community Award. The packed hall heard how she is a “supportive friend, conscientious to the extreme and a fierce upholder of our school values”.

Safina Watters earned the Determination: Progress Award for giving full commitment at all her studies. She also picked up the Geographer Pioneer Extraordinaire Award for her passion and drive at GCSE and A-level.

The school’s ACE (Academy, Colleges and Education) rugby programme chose Harry Wright as Coach’s Player of the Year, for his hard work, dedication and humility on and off the field, which earned him selection for both Gloucester and England U18s. Dylan Pearson received the Most Improved Award for his hard work, focus and dedication to rugby and the ACE team.

Coach’s Player of the Year for the elite basketball programme went to “exceptional” captain Finley Woodward, whose “relentless work rate sets a fantastic example for the entire squad”.

Headteacher Dr Lizzy Ford said: “The passion and drive that our students demonstrate to improve and succeed in all they do is phenomenal, and I and their teachers are incredibly proud of them.

“Through their time here they have grown into well-rounded young adults, with a desire to succeed and to help others in their community, guided by their dedicated teachers and supported by their loving families.

“I’m sure they will excel in their forthcoming exams and whether moving onto university or apprenticeships, we wish them all the very best.”

The school is part of the Severn Academies Educational Trust, and chief executive Matthew Carpenter added his praise and best wishes to the students.

He said: “Our mantra is ‘growing brilliance’ and occasions like these are fine examples of how we help prepare our young people to lead brilliant lives.”
