WATCH: Dudley Bus Station might finally be ready for commuters

Repeated delays have left Dudley without a central bus station for months.

Testing has begun on Dudley’s £24 million bus station, days after its latest completion date passed.

The new station was originally due to open last year but delays put that date back first to spring this year, and then to autumn.

The Express & Star’s Steve Leath was at the station to see drivers testing and training for the new layout.

November 1 was the latest opening date for both the station and tram stop supplied by Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, in September this year.

The councillor also said he “wouldn’t be holding [his] breath” that the latest deadline would be met either.

The new station features five stalls than previously, but a Transport for West Midlands source said: “The new bus station has been designed to meet present needs, and has the capacity to handle far more buses than come into the town at the moment.”
