"Marbles should be an international organisation, no question. Look at the thousands of people that have opened up about mental illness because of this charity alone," he said.

The Great Bridge based charity held the event on Tuesday afternoon where the boxing star was joined by 'Allo 'Allo star Vicki Michelle at Marbles second hand furniture warehouse on High Street.

Both spoke in depth on how they have been directly and indirectly affected by mental illness.

The Black Country charity promotes good mental health and aims to get rid of the stigma that surrounds sufferers.

It was founded in 2007 by Kevin Robbins, whose passion was fuelled by his own incredible life experiences coming to terms with bipolar disorder.

Frank Bruno has battled with bipolar since 2003 and has had spells in hospital. He said: "I could not be happier to be involved in such an incredible charity. Kevin Ribbons is an unbelievably kind-hearted man who I can relate to through both our similar personal struggles.

"It was not easy for me to come out but you have to remember, I am human too."

"I hope I have inspired people to talk out, because mental illness really can happen to anyone."

The centre aims to be open from 10am to 10pm six days a week, where people of all ages, disabilities and mental illnesses are encouraged to visit to discuss and talk through their problems with dedicated qualified councillors.

The charity aims to raise up to £300,000 so they can offer educational training courses, support club groups for drug and alcohol addiction and a free counselling service for the public.

Vicki Michelle said: "It is really important places like this are freely available to the public."
