Barefoot runners stops traffic in Wolverhampton
The thought of running an average 15 miles a week might seem daunting for many, but can you imagine doing it barefoot?
Well the concept of barefoot running is not a new one, but seeing someone doing it on the streets of Wolverhampton is certainly an unfamiliar one.
Personal trainer and boxing coach Joby Clayton, manager of Firewalker gym in Wolverhampton, has been barefoot running for four years.
While the scientific jury might still be out as to the risks verses benefits of barefoot running, with 20 years of experience in the fitness industry, the 41 year-old insists there are plenty of benefits to be had, but firstly the art of running must be mastered.
There have been many Olympic barefoot runners including Zola Budd who also testify to its benefits and brands of barefoot running shoes have flooded the market in recent years.
Video journalist Nicky Butler went along to meet Joby and try out barefoot running. Find out whether it proved to be a grounding experience, or a painful one.
