Members of two green groups have been working together to improve a Walsall woodland for visitors by making rustic benches.
Walsall Council's countryside services worked with The Friends of Merrions Wood and Walsall Countryside Conservation Volunteers on the project.
Senior countryside ranger Diana West said: "Using locally harvested timber, the groups had a go at creating unique benches at Merrions Wood - keeping another ancient tradition alive.
"The finished benches, which have been made in a wholly sustainable way, will be used to provide seating within the woodland."
Councillor Barry Sanders, Walsall Council's cabinet member for leisure and chairman of the Merrions Wood Trust which owns the reserve, said: "We are urging people who live nearby or enjoy visiting to help us to improve this historical and beautiful woodland.
"The event gives people the opportunity to use their imagination, be active, creative and develop new skills in an attractive outdoor setting."
