Sounds of the sixties and seventies will help raise cash to help develop music stars at a school thanks to its site supervisor.

Barrie Crabb, who has worked at Norton Canes Primary School for three years, and his band Walk Don't Run will donate concert proceeds towards a recording and rehearsal studio on the grounds.

Guitarist Barrie, aged 60, has spent the last 18 months converting a former outdoor toilet block at the school into a studio and hopes to raise cash to help buy equipment.

Joined by his brothers Mark, vocals, and Andy, bass, plus drummer Alan White and guitarist Mike Purchase, the band will perform at the Constitutional Club at Heath Hayes on April 18 (8pm).

He said: "All the money raised will go to the school as we are playing for free. The music studio is a project close to my heart, so hopefully it will give that a real boost."

Tunes by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and Elvis will be among the set on an evening of nostalgia.

Tickets are £5, including a buffet, and are available on the door.
