Thousands of kind-hearted motorcycle enthusiasts got on their bikes as part of a charity campaign to support war heroes and their families.

More than 40 bikers from Wolverhampton were among the fundraising group of around 5,000 which revved into RAF Cosford as part of a novel Easter egg run.

Bikers from Wolverhampton started their stretch of the fundraising ride from the Stratstone Harley Davidson dealership in Chapel Ash before joining other bikers at Shrewsbury Town Football Club and then making their way to RAF Cosford.

The group from the city was made up mostly of members from the Wulfruna Chapter, a motorcycle club affiliated to the dealership in Chapel Ash.

The event was organised by the RAF Association, and each biker donated £5 in sponsorship and each took along an Easter egg.

Taking part in the ride was John Brindley, a 46-year-old detective from Wolverhampton. He said: "There were at least 40 Harley Davidsons which left Wolverhampton."
