More than 300 runners from across the West Midlands took on a gruelling cross-country race.

They lined up on the start line for the 13th annual Wyre Forest race, setting out from the visitor centre in Callow Hill, near Bewdley. Despite the recent cold snap runners said conditions under foot were good, making for a keenly contested race of eight miles.

Kidderminster's Tom Kenderdine took the honours in 51 minutes 13 seconds. The 36-year-old, of Ferndale Crescent, runs with Halesowen Athletic Club, and had competed in a national cross-country event the previous day.

Cardiac dietician Lucy Aphramor, 41, of Kenilworth Runners, was the first woman home in just under an hour.
