Minis all Rover the place

More than 5,000 classic car fans descended on Stafford for the 10th British Mini Fair.

Enthusiasts travelled from all over the UK to help celebrate the Mini and all things classic at Staffordshire County Showground yesterday.

Originals from 1959 were on display.

Visitors got the chance to get up close to the cars in Bingley Hall and one lucky visitor from Kingswinford won a 1999 limited edition Paul Smith Mini for just £1.

Also at the event were rally driver Clive King and and Bob Grice. Former Longbridge worker Mr Grice, who helped create the Mini, spoke about the development of the car in the 50s and 60s. Dave Hollis, British Mini Club events organiser, said: "It was excellent, a really good day for all of the people. We had more than 5,000 people which is one of the best events we have had for a while.
