Rovers recovered from a slow start to lead comfortably by half-time.

Tranmere came from behind to secure their first home win since early September with an impressive 3-1 victory over Cheltenham at Prenton Park.

A brace from Dylan Jones and a stunning strike from Charlie Whitaker before the break overturned Charlie McCann’s early opener to give Rovers all three points.

The visitors made a flying start, taking the lead after just 47 seconds when McCann steered Jake Evans’ low cross past Luke McGee from 12 yards out.

Tranmere responded well and were level after 23 minutes when Jones finished off a slick move, diverting Jacob Slater’s cross past Wyll Stanway and into the bottom corner.

Jones completed the turnaround six minutes before half-time, firing a superb left-footed effort past Stanway from 25 yards to put the hosts ahead.

Rovers then added a third on the stroke of half-time as Whitaker produced a moment of quality, his dipping strike from the edge of the area leaving Stanway with no chance.

Tom Ince and Whitaker both had opportunities to extend the lead in the second half, but the hosts comfortably held on to extend their unbeaten run to three games.
