West Brom set to step up move for Darren Fletcher and Callum McManaman
West Brom will step up their pursuit of Darren Fletcher and Callum McManaman next week as Tony Pulis prepares for a frantic late-January scramble to strengthen his squad.
Manchester United midfielder Fletcher and Wigan winger McManaman are among the Baggies' top transfer targets and Hawthorns officials have received encouraging signals on their chances of landing the pair.
Pulis also wants a target man to ease the burden on leading scorer Saido Berahino but Blackburn forward Rudy Gestede currently appears a less likely signing.
Fletcher seems set to leave Old Trafford this month with Albion optimistic they have a chance of landing the 30-year-old former Scotland captain.
However, several other Premier League sides have asked to be kept informed of the midfielder's intentions, meaning they could face stiff competition for his signature.
McManaman is also available although the Latics are looking for upwards of £5m for the highly-rated wide man.
Albion are keen to add extra options on the flanks with summer signing Silvestre Varela currently out of favour.
Pulis's main priority, however, remains a striker with Gestede one of several players the Baggies have asked about. However, they have yet to firm up their interest.
They are also aware of Demba Ba's availability but the former Chelsea and Newcastle man's wage demands mean a move from Besiktas is highly unlikely.
They have also watched Elche striker Jonathan De Jesus but he appears to be an outside bet.
