Referee Amy Fearn to make FA Cup history

Former Midland Alliance referee Amy Fearn will make history on Saturday when she becomes the first woman to officiate a first-round FA Cup tie.

The 35-year-old, who grew up in Staffordshire, will take charge of Corby Town's meeting with Dover Athletic. Fearn, a mother-of-two, wrote her name in record books three years ago when she became the first woman to referee a match in the Football League.

The accountant, who began her career under the maiden name of Rayner, regularly officiates in the Skrill Conference.
