Wolves slide from the promotion places gathered pace today with a dreadful home mauling from Crystal Palace.
The debut of new £1.5m striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake did nothing to bring fresh inspiration to Mick McCarthy's team as in-form Palace took them apart.
Clinton Morrison opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Wolves were seen off by goals from Sean Scannell five minutes after the break and a stunning James Scowcroft volley just after the hour.
What's more, the mood around Molineux continues to blacken with McCarthy's decision to replace Ebanks-Blake after 53 minutes roundly booed from all sides of the ground.
The decline of Wolves season is now of deep concern - as they have not won in eight Championship games from which they have collected a miserable four points from 24 available.
And despite this week's transfer market activity Wolves still can't buy a goal. With the malaise summed up by an amazing miss from Jay Bothroyd in the 80th minute which brought angry jeers from his own fans.
Molineux was barely half full by the time the contest had finished and Ebanks-Blake must be wondering what he has let himself in for.
He had one chance to mark his debut with a goal from Carl Henry's first half cross but mis directed his header - and a minute later Palace were in front and never looked back.
Wolves will also be bringing in midfielder David Edwards this weekend from Luton hoping that he too can give the side a new momentum.
But today's performance was a alarming reminder of just how far they have slipped in two months of deteriorating form which has seen them lose touch with the promotion race.
