James Collins departs role as Wolves under-21s boss

Collins spent the past six-and-a-half years with Wolves’ academy.

James Collins has left his position as Wolves under-21s head coach to “pursue other career opportunities” after six-and-a-half years in charge.

The 48-year-old joined Wolves in January 2020 and also took caretaker charge of a 3-0 defeat at Chelsea following Vitor Pereira’s sacking in November last year.

Collins took charge of over 200 games for the under-21s and helped further the development of first team talents such as Hugo Bueno and Matheus Mane.

“It has been a privilege to work with the coaches, staff and especially all the players during my time at the football club,” Collins said.

“I’m proud of everything we have achieved over my time in the academy and I wish the club continued and sustained success in the future.”

Academy director Jonathan Hunter-Barrett added: “I’d like to thank James for his commitment and professionalism during his time at Wolves.

“He has worked with a number of our young players throughout his six-and-a-half years at the club and has played a role in their development both on and off the pitch.

“On behalf of everyone at Wolves, I’d like to thank James for his efforts and wish him all the very best for the future.”
