Deal agreed for Wolves striker's exit

The striker is set to leave.

Tolu Arokodare is nearing his Wolves exit after a deal was struck with Ajax.

The Dutch club have agreed a season-long loan for the 25-year-old, which includes an option to buy him for around £17million.

Ajax will also pay his full wages for the 2026/27 campaign, while they have also paid Wolves a £1million loan fee, for a player the club signed for nearly £24million last summer.

On top of that, Wolves will receive further bonuses based on Ajax’s qualification for European tournaments, as Wolves offload the striker that was surplus to requirements.

Both the club and player have been working on his move away all summer and Arokodare was initially not included in the squad for Wolves’ pre-season training camp in Portugal.

He was flown out for one training session at the end of the week to cover for Adam Armstrong’s calf injury, but the player did not feature in the behind closed doors friendly with Estoril and he watched on from the stands.

Once Wolves had returned to Compton to continue pre-season preparations, Arokodare was then involved in an incident where a training session was cancelled due to the player refusing to leave the first team group - as extra security were drafted into Compton to avoid a repeat of the situation.

Arokodare was not banned from the training ground, but not feature in the latest friendlies against Maidenhead and Real Sociedad.

The player then took to social media to hit back at “inaccurate” media reports, although he did not explain which details he was referring to and did not claim the incident did not happen.

A number of clubs have been chasing Arokodare’s signature this summer, with both Fiorentina and Trabzonspor having offers rejected.

The Turkish club did eventually have a bid accepted by Wolves but the player turned it down as he preferred Italy as his destination, but he has now agreed to move to the Netherlands after Ajax struck a deal with Wolves.
