Social Media Watch: How football is coping with suspension - March 16
Here we bring you the best posts from around the world of football as players, coaches and commentators attempt to cope with the suspension of football.
With all of professional European football on an indefinite hiatus, players from around the continent have been finding novel ways to keep themselves fit and entertained during the forced postponement.
1. James Milner
Since the introduction of the Boring James Milner Twitter account, the Liverpool midfielder has embraced the mantle as his public persona.
After already receiving PG Tips and a steam cleaner for Christmas on Manchester City's YouTube channel, and drinking Ribena rather than wine after a Champions League win, Milner has taken to rationing tea bags to keep himself occupied.
Posting on his twitter account, Milner responded to a video of teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain dancing up some stairs by sharing his own pulse racing activity.
In the video, Milner is seen carefully segregating his tea bags into piles for, what appears to be, every day of the week.
Like he says, he's got a reputation to live up to.
2. Dries Mertens
Napoli forward, Dries Mertens, doesn't seem to be taking the imminent threat of a global pandemic and potential collapse of society as we know it as seriously as he should.
On his Instagram page, the Belgian has been lifting a gigantic bottle of wine in order to keep up his fitness while quarantined.
Italy has been hit harder than most by COVID-19, with seven Serie A players testing positive for the virus and the whole country on lockdown.
The post's caption reads, 'My greatest advice in life: “a little bit of wine is the solution to a lot of problems.”
3. Lucas Vázquez
Despite getting some time off work, one major downside for many parents having to self-quarantine is keeping the kids entertained.
Luckily for Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vázquez, his child seems to have developed a precocious interest in fitness.
The 28-year-old made two posts on his Instagram in which his child is seen playing alongside him as he keeps up to speed with home workout routines.
4. Clive Tyldesley
Now out of work for the foreseeable future, football commentator Clive Tyldesley has decided to take his talents elsewhere.
Much to the pleasure of his wife, Tyldesley posted a video of himself commentating over the preparation of dinner.
Swapping the gantry for the kitchen, Clive ensured viewers that he must stay 'match fit and ready' during football's postponement.
The video wasn't without a serious message however, with Tyldsley encouraging everyone to look after their elderly neighbours and relatives during this difficult period.
