Wolves broke their transfer record to bring the 22-year-old winger to Molineux by paying Middlesbrough £18 million

The Spanish international completed 267 successful dribbles in the Championship last season, 132 more than any player in the league.

But speaking on talkSPORT radio, Allardyce questioned his consistency - although adding he believes Traore 'will improve the team'.

Former England boss Allardyce, 63, who was born in Dudley, told the radio show: "It's a big chance for me.

"He's what we call a 'sacking player' because the fans will love him but the manager will not see it often enough.

"Unless the last few years at Middlesbrough has taught him a lot to deliver.

"If he delivers consistently he's a hell of a player, but his inconsistency has always been the problem since he arrived at (Aston) Villa.

"You will be judged on the size of the money and the player by the fans, and if the fans turn around and say after a few games 'he's a waste of money, what did we buy him for?', that's what you're faced with now.

"How much he'll improve the team? I think with his pace and what he's got he will obviously improve the team, but will he do it consistently enough for that value on him, with the pressure it puts on him then?

"That is always a big problem for a player, living with the fee that's paid for them, that's a problem."

Traore completed his signing at Wolves yesterday after weeks of negotiations between both clubs.

Middlesbrough had initially rejected a £12m offer and offered Traore an improved contract to keep their star man.

But he moved to Molineux after Wolves came in with a greater offer and met his £18m release clause.

On signing, Traore said he knew all along he wanted to join Wolves and spoke of his delight on joining the club.

"It's a great team with a good history," Traore said. "I'm so happy, it's a great day for me, for my family.

"I hope to show what I can do (on the pitch). I will say thank you to the club, to the gaffer as well for making this possible. I'm ready for work.

"It's great if I can do it and come here and help the team, work for this team. My mentality is work every day and be prepared for whatever comes.

"People who know me know I like to work hard, to push myself every day."

Traore began his career at Barcelona, playing mostly for the B team and making one senior appearance, before moving to England and playing for Aston Villa and then Middlesbrough.
