Nuno Espirito Santo has again demanded his Wolves players are protected by referees.

Ten players have been sent off in Championship matches against Wolves this season, with Preston's John Welsh the latest during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Deepdale.

Preston boss Alex Neil had some choice words for Wolves' players after that game, accusing Nuno's 'soft foreign players' of feigning injury.

And Nuno appeared to reference that when calling for the integrity of all players to be protected by the officials.

Speaking to Wolves' official website, the head coach said: "I think, I always say, the players of Wolves are ready, they stand up and they go on but there are things that the referee should protect...Wolves players, the opponent players, English players, foreign players, everybody must be protected by the referee.

"The referee has a tough job but he's there to analyse and decide and he should protect always the integrity of the players. All the players should be protected."

Wolves face Norwich City at Molineux tomorrow. The Canaries earned a last-gasp draw against fierce rivals Ipswich Town on Sunday and while that may have given the mid-table side some momentum, Nuno said he only cared about the preparation of his own players.

"I think they are in a good momentum," he added. "It's a good team with a good manager playing good football.

"We know what we have to do – we don't care much if they come extra motivated. We have to focus on ourselves.

"We know what we have to do and we have to work very hard for each game."
