Nuno: Wolves are battle hardened
Nuno Espirito Santo believes Wolves' rigorous training sessions have made them battled hardened for the physical Championship.
Wolves have often come in for rough treatment from opposition teams this season with Diogo Jota a regular target.
Jota was at the centre of an incident with QPR's Jack Robinson last week which the FA viewed but didn't take further action on.
When asked how he had got his players to mix it physically with their Championship opponents, Nuno said: "Because they train like this. So if you train like this you play like this.
"I've been mentioning since the beginning that it's the job of the referee to control it. That's their job.
"We have to be ready for it. We stand up and we go – the referee has to judge.
"It's not only Jota, everybody (stands up to it).
"I think the (FA) committee saw the image. If they decide there's nothing to go on, we respect that, like we always do.
"The image was there, they watch it, analyse it, decide it. We respect that."
It was put to Nuno that lesser players wouldn't have fancied the cut throat nature of the league.
"Not a Wolves player," the head coach responded.
Wolves face play-off hopefuls Preston at Deepdale today looking to maintain or increase their 12-point lead.
Nuno said keeping their eyes only on their next game was crucial in keeping the players grounded.
"They don't look further than the next training session," he added.
"What's important is the mentality of the group and the philosophy of the work.
"Older players give you experience, the younger players give you sometimes creativity, happiness and they need another kind of approach.
"But as a group what's important is the way you see things. Hard work will lead you to success and perform well. Game after game, nothing changes."
"You cannot control your future if you don't deal with your present.
"You have to stay humble.
"I don't look at the table. I'm happy to be the only man that doesn't look at the table."
