Wolves heroes at social club
The manager, captain and Player of the Year from Wolves’ march to the Premier League for the first time will be back in Wolverhampton in the 15th anniversary year of that promotion.
Boss Dave Jones, defender Paul Butler and goalkeeper Matt Murray will take centre stage and talk about old times again on Thursday, March 1. The trio will be at the ECC Sports & Social Club, on Showell Road, Bushbury, and will be on stage after the 2003 Championship play-off final is shown in full.
Jones will always be the first manager to get Wolves into the re-branded top flight, the first time the club had played at the level for 19 years.
Butler, a £1million buy from Sunderland in January 2001 after a successful loan spell, skippered the side that day and conceded a penalty after the break, handling in the box.
Murray preserved the clean sheet with a memorable save in the 48th minute, pushing away Michael Brown’s penalty. It cemented his status as the top performer for that campaign.
Tickets are £10, including a buffet and photo opportunity. Call into the venue for tickets or dial 01902 424 455.
