Bully: Wolves break is a great idea
We were all disappointed to see the unbeaten run end last week, but it was bound to happen sooner or later.
It was just one of those games, we were a bit lethargic and out of shape.
The passing wasn’t as crisp as it has been, quite a few passes were going astray and the fans were getting a bit frustrated – but they shouldn’t be as we’re nine points clear.
We’re not going to win every game and, to be fair, Nottingham Forest aren’t a bad side – I watched them against Villa the week before and they’re strong defensively.
Still, it was a surprise to see us barely have a shot. The end product was poor and after a couple of weeks where they’d looked below their best, a defeat was coming.
You can cope with one or two players having an off day, but not five or six.
It just shows there might be a few more twists and turns before the season is done and Wolves will know that another defeat this weekend will start to open the door to the chasing pack.
The players have gone to Marbella this week and I think that’s great timing. We have to remember there are a number of players who aren’t used to the busy Championship schedule and, while they’ve coped with it great up to now, a week in the sun does no harm at all. They’ll get a bit of sun on their back and hopefully come back refreshed.
Nuno has looked at the situation and thought a change of scenery, some different pitches and better weather will do them good. We went abroad before the Sherpa Van Trophy final in 1988. It wasn’t a training camp, just a chance to get away and relax and we all think it played a part in us winning the final. It got the lads united.
It’s Ipswich away today and we all know what we’re getting from a Mick McCarthy team.
He’ll have them organised and motivated and will set his stall out to take a draw and try and nick a win if possible.
It’ll be a tough game and Wolves have got to be on it. I think Nuno will have them ready.
There’s a few days left in the window and we wait to see what Wolves do. I thought we’d have another striker in by now. The squad is big but a couple of fresh faces would be no bad thing.
