John Ruddy

After a couple of busy games Ruddy was back to having nothing to do, with Brentford not mustering a single shot on target. 6/10

Ryan Bennett

For all the money they spent Wolves picked up a few bargains and capturing Bennett on a free transfer has proved very shrewd indeed. Been very consistent over the past couple of months and nothing got past him here. 7/10

Conor Coady

He's become Mr Dependable. Looks incredibly assured and at home in the central centre half role. Sniffs danger out, is endlessly covering and intercepting. Beginning to make it look easy and he very, very rarely loses possession. Another excellent display. 8/10

Willy Boly

A chip to play in Doherty in the first half was sublime. His technique is just daft for a centre half although sometimes it feels like it's too easy for him – on a couple of occasions here he carelessly gave the ball away. But defensively solid. 7/10

Matt Doherty

Should have scored in the first half and he bombed forward incessantly in the second half, combining well with Cavaleiro with whom he shares a good understanding. 7/10

Romain Saiss

Another no-frills but important role. His dirty work enables those around him to produce the fireworks. Had added maturity and consistency to his game this season and Wolves are much better off for it. One 50-yard rake towards Douglas which led to a Jota chance was perfection. 7/10

Ruben Neves

He doesn't do rubbish goals, does he? Three Wolves strikes and three beauties for Neves, whose free kick was a dream. Constantly involved in midfield, constantly able to find space and pick a pass. A joy to watch. 8/10

Barry Douglas

What a hit! Right out of the Alan Partridge 'thriker' school. Top corner from 15 yards – unsaveable. And with his right foot as well. His corners were spot on all night, too. 7/10

Helder Costa

A notable improvement on his poor showing at Bristol. Started off well with a great low ball for Bonatini to hit the post. Could have scored when he raced through on goal only for Bentley to block his chip. A surprise to see him taken off so early. 7/10

Leo Bonatini

Hit the post from close range at the start of the first half and embarked on a jinking run showing good strength and feet before shooting at the keeper at the start of the second half. Some decent hold up play as well and he looked better than in recent weeks but Bonatini has gone scoreless in six and his place may be under threat if/when Wolves sign a couple of forwards in January. 7/10

Diogo Jota

A lively performance after a subdued couple of weeks. Had a header cleared off the line, saw a thunderbolt shot superbly saved and then finally got on the scoresheet when he turned in from a corner. 7/10

Substitutes

Ivan Cavaleiro (for Costa, 53)

Another excellent cameo from Cavaleiro, his second in four days. Changed the game at Bristol City and took Wolves' play to the next level here, adding impetus, pace, width and his now deadly passing range, picking out Barry Douglas for the second goal. Could have scored a couple himself. What a season he's having. 8/10

Bright Enobakhare (for Jota, 81)

Minimal time to make an impact with the game already won. Swansea on Saturday should be his big opportunity. N/A

Kortney Hause (for Boly, 83)

A first league appearance of the season but, as with Enobakhare, it's all about Saturday for Hause. N/A

Subs not used: Norris, Vinagre, N'Diaye, Gibbs-White.
