Barnsley boss after Wolves defeat: "It was a penalty"
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom felt his side should have had a penalty against Wolves – and said Alfred N'Diaye's late winner was 'a sickener'.
Former Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw went down under an apparent push from Danny Batth in the first half of Wolves' 2-1 win at Molineux but referee Jeremy Simpson turned down the Tykes' appeals.
Heckingbottom thought his team deserved at least a point from an even contest.
"Yes, it's a penalty," the Barnsley head coach said. "I'm not here to talk about refs but they always find a way into the headlines and most of the times it is when they don't do their job properly.
"There were not too many things wrong from our point of view in terms of what we are asking the players to do. We dominated large spells. Their only threat was on the counter – we just gave them more opportunities to counter in the second half because we were pushing.
"They're a very good side and defensively very good, they drop back into a 5-4-1 shape, they've got pace in wide areas and pace up top and they break really quickly.
“We knew we were playing against a good side with lots of good players, so we knew we had to be organised, perform properly and we did for the majority of the game.
"We deserved at least a point and we thought we’d got it, so it’s a sickener.
"I feel sick but that's why you play. You can't feel any more alive than those last 15 minutes.
"There wasn't too many things wrong from what we ask the players to do. We deserved a point and we thought we'd got it. It was just a moment of switching off."
