John Ruddy

A third clean sheet from five appearances for Ruddy, who aside from that one blip against Cardiff last weekend has been near faultless so far. Produced one excellent save from a Romaine Sawyers rasper early on, but otherwise he wasn't unduly tested. Will be an important figure in the dressing room this season – his experience and authority should not be underestimated. 7/10

Roderick Miranda

A couple of hairy moments against Ollie Watkins in the first half but he improved as the game went on and overall certainly won that individual battle. A big improvement on last week's horror show against Cardiff. Distribution much better too....apart from that vital moment in injury time when he delayed his pass to Dicko with Wolves three-on-one. 7/10

Conor Coady

Looks a natural at centre half. A couple of really important covering moments and interceptions and he always looked to play the ball out quickly and set Wolves on the counter. 7/10

Willy Boly

Again, smart distribution from the back in his composed and unruffled manner. Has taken to the Championship well and you get the impression he will only improve as the season goes on. 7/10

Matt Doherty

Well below his best. Not particularly suspect defensively but going the other way he was non-existent aside from a blazed second half shot from a good position. Lacked his usual zest in what was a leggy performance. 5/10

Ruben Neves

A tough game for the £15m man in a crowded midfield but he held his own and used the ball wisely when he got his head up. 6/10

Romain Saiss

After that blistering start to the campaign with deeply impressive displays against Middlesbrough and Cardiff the message was 'keep it up and add consistency to your game'...well he hasn't managed it yet. Not at the races against Cardiff and he was almost as poor here. Is concentration his biggest weakness? He seems to doze off at times and let his man go, or play a sloppy pass (there were quite a few here). With a new central midfielder likely to be on the way this week Saiss looks vulnerable. So frustrating because he has all the attributes to be a success in this division. 5/10

Ruben Vinagre

As against Southampton he was bright, breezy and full of energy and enthusiasm. Looks more comfortable in attack than defence but overall he had a good game and provided a useful overlap which led to a couple of threatening shots and crosses. Wolves are believed to be after a left back before the transfer window closes but in Vinagre and Douglas they do look to have that position covered, judging on what we've seen so far. 7/10

Bright Enobakhare

An anonymous performance which looked to be related to taking an early kick which seemed to knock him off his stride. Withdrawn at half time. 5/10

Leo Bonatini

Some of his link-up play, particularly in the first half, was very easy on the eye and he and Diogo Jota look to have a very good understanding. They were at the heart of Wolves' good early play. Should have scored when Jota put him through though. Faded after the break. 7/10

Diogo Jota

A constant thorn in Brentford's side. On a number of occasions he embarked on a dazzling run in the opposition half or played piercing one-twos. Wolves' best chance of a goal by some distance. Like Bonatini he should have scored, but he can be very pleased with his afternoon's work. Possibly Wolves' standout performer in the early weeks of the season. 8/10

Substitutes

Ivan Cavaleiro (for Enobakhare, 45)

What has this guy got to do to get a start in the league? Another lively cameo with plenty of creativity. Came close to breaking the deadlock when he headed into the side netting from Wolves' move of the match, which he was heavily involved in. 7/10

Nouha Dicko (for Bonatini, 78)

Was this his Wolves swansong? We'll see what the week ahead holds but this won't have been the way Dicko wanted to bow out. A fraction away from reaching a Jota header across goal, with the Brentford defender just beating him to it. He could have had the glory late on if Miranda's pass had come earlier. 6/10

Jack Price (for Neves, 85)

Brought on to help get a grip in midfield with Brentford applying some late pressure. N/A

Subs not used: Norris, Bennett, Batth, Ronan.
