Wolves 1 Nottm Forest 0 - player ratings
Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers rates the players after Nouha Dicko's goal gives Paul Lambert's team a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Andy Lonergan
He said he was rusty on Saturday and that he hoped the cobwebs will have cleared for Forest...he was right on both counts.
A much more assured display, helped by Forest being a far different proposition to Cardiff in terms of an aerial bombardment being lacking.
Pulled off an excellent and crucial save in the last minute of injury time. 7/10
Conor Coady
A few eyebrows were raised when he was moved to right back (Kenny Jackett was lampooned for attempting the same experiment in pre-season) but Coady has grown into the role and produced a string of consistent performances.
His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and you'll struggle to find someone more committed.
His goalline clearance before the winning goal was stupendous. 8/10
Danny Batth
Another unruffled and no-nonsense performance from Batth who is playing as well as he has since 2014/15.
The sloppy errors have gone and his partnership with Kortney Hause shows promise. 7/10
Kortney Hause
Like Batth, is performing to a consistent level and Wolves duly look defensively sound.
Going a long way to suggesting he should be first choice next season. 7/10
Matt Doherty
A poor first half, in which a careless error almost let Forest in on goal, was followed up with an improved second half.
Played his part in the goal when he broke forward and played to Weimann. 6/10
David Edwards
Won a number of interceptions and recycled the ball quickly.
Played a little deeper, meaning his forays into the box were more infrequent. 6/10
Lee Evans
Showing an increasing maturity in his game management - he played his part in helping see this through in the nervy final 10 minutes.
Can be frustrating at times when he doesn't move the ball quickly enough, but on the flip side he rarely gives it away. Run of games will be doing him the world of good. 6/10
Andreas Weimann
Proving to be a great asset to the team. Weimann's work rate is just astonishing - this guy makes Forrest Gump look lazy.
His interplay with the rest of the front four can be joyous and he provided another key moment in this winning run (goals against Rotherham and Fulham and an assist against Cardiff) by setting up the winning goal with a pinpoint cross. 8/10
Ben Marshall
A step down from his recent form. Looked a bit leggy - perhaps two games in four days was a stretch for a player who's only just caught up on his fitness.
Went close with a 30-yard free kick and there were a few nice touches and passes, but he wasn't influential. 6/10
Ivan Cavaleiro
Quite busy in the first half with a couple of efforts at goal and the cross that led to David Vaughan deflecting the ball inches past the post.
It was a moment of admirable defensive work that stood out, though, when Forest broke at pace and Cavaleiro, after initially failing to clear, slid in on Zach Clough when he was clean through.
Would Cavaleiro have done this before Christmas? Highly doubtful, but he's learning exactly what it means to be a Championship player - and Wolves could reap the rewards next season. 7/10
Nouha Dicko
The pent-up emotion of a deeply frustrating few months was there for all to see when match-winner Dicko broke the deadlock.
Linked well with Weimann and Cavaleiro on occasion and his all round game was good. As Lambert said afterwards, a full pre-season will be key to Dicko hopefully finding the net with far more regularity in 2017/18. 7/10
Substitutes
Morgan Gibbs-White (for Cavaleiro, 67)
More great experience for the 17-year-old who, it must be said, has yet to look out of place in a Wolves shirt. Some great touches and he isn't short of confidence either. 6/10
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (for Dicko, 77)
Quickly got involved and produced a couple of shots from the right of the box. But choosing to shoot from 18 yards when Weimann was all alone for an easy finish was a dreadful choice, and one that led to his boss kicking the dugout in frustration.
Ballooned a poor pass a minute later. Is Bodvarsson trying too hard? 6/10
Romain Saiss (for Marshall, 77)
Helped Wolves see out the game, sitting in midfield. 6/10
Subs not used: Burgoyne, Williamson, Saville, Price.
