Wolves 0 Sheff Wed 2 - player ratings
Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers rates the players as Paul Lambert's first home game ends in defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.
Andy Lonergan
Selected ahead of a fit-again Carl Ikeme. Slow off his line for Wednesday's second goal. Distribution wasn't the best but he kept the score down late on with a couple of impressive blocks. 6/10
Dominic Iorfa
The finger could be pointed at him for both goals. Failed to stop Bannan's cross for the first and then put Stearman in trouble with a slow pass for the second, allowing Forestieri to nip in. Tried his best to offer an attacking threat in the second half. His form is a real concern. Gone backwards in the past six months. 3/10
Richard Stearman
His first appearance since September 13 and he had a tough time in the first half. Sold short by Iorfa for that second goal but he couldn't prevent Forestieri from racing clear. Improved after the break. 5/10
Kortney Hause
Part of the problem, or the solution? The jury is still out on Hause who's having a tough season. Age must be taken into account but he's still making basic errors, such as heading straight to Forestieri in the second half. Poor positioning too. 5/10
Matt Doherty
What was he thinking when he crashed into Forestieri for the penalty? A senseless challenge and one of the clearest penalties you'll ever see. As at Preston he was better going forward than in recent weeks and he set up two chances, for Dicko and Cavaleiro. 5/10
Conor Coady
Beautiful touch and movement for that early chance before he scuffed his shot. Didn't offer enough protection to the back four when Wednesday threatened to run riot in the first half. He was much better in the second half and helped push Wolves up the field. 6/10
Jack Price
Like Coady he was poor defensively early on. Someone needed to take the game by the scruff of the neck but Price failed to do so. Seems to play better away from home. 5/10
Helder Costa
Wolves' main tactic in the first half was to give him the ball and hope he produced some magic. No lack of effort from Costa but he couldn't do it on his own. A couple of bright moments but this wasn't the game for him. 5/10
David Edwards
Skipper for the day in Danny Batth's absence. Got in good positions in the box but was ignored, notably when Dicko and Cavaleiro elected to shoot instead. Won a few tackles but needed to offer more going forward. 6/10
George Saville
A defensive, safety-first option on the left wing. Fair enough when you're trying to keep a clean sheet away from home, but Wolves were desperately short of creativity here and playing Saville out of position as a left winger didn't help. Taken off at half time. 3/10
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson
No lack of effort from a player who gives 100 per cent week after week, but things just aren't coming off for him at the moment. His goal drought, which stretches back to August, continues, but it's not like he's missing chances - he's not getting any to miss. Isolated and frustrated. 5/10
Substitutes
Nouha Dicko (for Saville, 45)
Reinvigorated Wolves at the start of the second half. Harangued and harassed the Wednesday defenders and got Wolves briefly on the front foot. Off target with his big chance, albeit from a tight angle. Lambert suggested he will start next time around. After two bright substitute appearances he's earned it. 7/10
Joao Teixeira (for Costa, 71)
A 19-minute cameo in which he did little else other than get booked. After all the initial promise he has notably regressed, to the extent where it won't be a surprise if he's sent back to Benfica in January. 5/10
Ivan Cavaleiro (for Bodvarsson, 76)
A surprise that was third substitute. Created two chances in the nine minutes he got at Preston last week, and here he could have had two goals in 19 minutes (including added time). Should have scored with his first touch. But at least he was getting in the right positions. 6/10
Subs not used: Ikeme, Saiss, Ronan, Enobakhare.
