Walter Zenga: I'm afraid of Wigan game

Wolves boss Walter Zenga has demanded his team keep their focus as they take on rock-bottom Wigan tonight looking for a third successive league victory.

Wins over Newcastle and Brentford have got Wolves back on track and within sight of the play-offs.

But Zenga has warned his team not to take their eye off the ball despite Wigan's lowly league position. The Italian said he was 'afraid' of tonight's match.

"If we start thinking it's an easy game we fall down and hurt ourselves very hard," he said.

"There are no easy games, or easy teams. Every game is one story.

"I'm afraid of this type of game. The situation is inverse to a week ago. One week ago we must show something for ourselves after one draw and one loss. Now we come from two victories.

"Now it's us that have to confirm what we did. And Wigan want to show they're not in the right (position).

"It's changed completely the situation.

"We must be very, very careful of this game, with our attitude and concentration."

Wigan, who have four ex-Wolves players in their ranks in Nathan Byrne, Michael Jacobs, Adam Le Fondre and Craig Davies, are winless in seven as they struggle to adapt to Championship life following promotion last season.

After facing the team currently 24th and bottom, Wolves host table-toppers Norwich on Saturday before the international break.

And Zenga wants consistency from his players. He added: "Respect is the most important thing that must stay with us. Feet on the floor, very solid, and don't fly too much.

"The players understand this. They are in the moment that they understand they can do something important.

"Especially because then Saturday we have Norwich here at home.

"Over a long period you have to show continuity to the result, to the performance, the attitude, all these things.

"If you prepare well and work hard, prepare for a win, have the right attitude and respect and humility that there is no easy game, probably you have a chance for a good result.

"We have to be, I repeat, very, very careful."
