E&S fans' verdict on Wolves' EFL Cup defeat at Newcastle

Our fans reflect on yet another early EFL Cup exit after Wolves' 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.

What's your verdict on the match? Back up to the North East for a very different game to last Saturday - same parking place, same result but different winner. A lot of that was to do with both sides playing completely new line-ups.

When can we please settle on a lineup and system, even if just for half dozen games?

At least we have now seen all of our new signings in the flesh, with Silvio starting at full back and Ola John on for the second half.

Both Silvio and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson seemed up against it with Newcastle pushing down both flanks and, in covering those players, we left gaps through the midfield. That was partially rectified by Price coming on.

Ola John was keen to get onto the ball - he looked tricky and better than either of Teixeira or Wallace.

Oh for a Wolves player to find the space and skillful shot produced by Matt Richie for their first goal.

Shelvey again ran their game pinging balls out wide - it was fun watching Diame become increasingly frustrated after poor games both on Saturday and last night.

Disappointingly neither Mason nor Gladon saw the ball in any key positions throughout the night, so there was no real work for their goalkeeper to do.

Three points better than a cup run? Discuss...

Who played well - and who didn't impress? Man of the match was Conor Coady, a vibrant performance even if some minor mistakes late on.

What's your verdict on the match? It was an inevitable result. We held our own for the first 20 minutes but Wallace's lack of conviction when one-on-one proved the telling blow.

After that, it was pretty much one-way traffic and the usual third round whimper of an exit was complete.

I though Coady did OK considering he was playing with two massive passengers and Ola John was decent in his cameo as 'George Elokobi the winger'.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? The top three were an apology. I'd rather have Perry Mason offering a threat from the wing.
