Goal hero hopes to cement Wolves place
Defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell hopes his performance in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest will help cement his place in the Wolves side.
Despite having made less than 30 first-team appearances, the 22-year-old netted his fifth goal in Wolves colours during Friday night's clash.
But it proved to be a mixed night for the defender, who then found himself at fault as Dexter Blackstock fired a late leveller.
And the youngster admitted he was devastated to see Forest snatch a Championship point, saying: "It was a tough one to swallow.
"I thought we had the better chances and I had a few myself as well as the goal. I take full responsibility for their goal because it was my man at the back stick.
"It was a sloppy goal to concede because set pieces are so important.
"But I relished the battle with the Forest forwards, I have been waiting for this chance and I want to stay in the team."
The former Bury loanee returned to Kenny Jackett's side in the 2-1 win at Rotherham on December 5 after two months out with a broken foot.
He impressed alongside Danny Batth in central defence, with that performance seeing him retain his place for the Forest clash.
Now he is targeting a start for Thursday's visit of Leeds after revealing he was given a huge welcome back into the fold.
The Smethwick-born star said: "We have got a good core to the squad here and the boys have welcomed me back in.
"I've been out for a while and am just hoping to show the fans what I can do again.
"I know I have to play well to stay in. Docs (Matt Doherty) is quite handy at centre-half and the gaffer could move Dom (Dominic Iorfa) across as well.
"No-one's place is safe, there is always someone pushing, and that is when you play at your best.
"Kortney Hause is on his way back as well and the club has shown it can bring someone like Mike Williamson in so I just have to carry on doing what I am doing."
Wolves fans were in great voice at Molineux on Friday with all four corners of the stand signing in tribute to Sir Jack Hayward and also waving their illuminated phones in the air.
And Ebanks-Landell is hoping for a similar atmosphere for the visit of Steve Evans' Leeds.
The stopper added: "The fans' support was great the other night. With all those lights in the second-half I thought I was at a rock concert!
"They created a great atmosphere, maybe the best it has been this season, and hopefully it will be the same again for Leeds on Thursday.
"We're in this spell of three home games in four and we have to make the most of that to try and get a run going and get ourselves in the promotion mix."
