WATCH: Kenny Jackett criticises 'naive' Wolves after Derby defeat
Wolves boss Kenny Jackett felt his team were 'naive and quite poor' defensively as they succumbed to a 4-2 defeat at Derby County.
Goals from Bradley Johnson, Johnny Russell and Chris Martin with two made it a bad day at the office for Wolves who made the scoreline respectable with strikes from Benik Afobe and Adam Le Fondre.
The home side threatened to run riot at times and also had a first-half penalty saved by Emiliano Martinez.
Jackett admitted Paul Clement's side had 'too much' for Wolves.
He said: "I felt our defending was naive and quite poor, particularly in our own defensive third, we were trying to play out too many times, we didn't clear our lines.
"At times, particularly in and around our own box, we took too many chances, invited the pressure, invited the ball to be won back and Derby did it very well.
"The work and the information in the week has been defend first and then play second.
"Some of our football was good and we look as though we have some goals in us, but defensively we didn't have a reality to our game for the quality of the opposition or the division.
"With the quality they have they can get away from you.
"You can work as hard as you like to recover but they don't let you, they work the goalkeeper when they get those chances.
"You need to stop it at the source and the defending in our own defensive third as a team, right the way through the game, was quite poor."
Martinez was at fault for Derby's second goal when he rushed from his line and failed to claim a Johnson cross, and Wolves allowed a corner to drop at Johnson's feet for the third.
Jackett said Wolves had to learn from their mistakes, ahead of home games against Brentford and Middlesbrough on Wednesday and Saturday.
"I felt that Derby deserved to win, they had too much for us," he added.
"From our point of view we didn't do well enough in and around our own box defensively to try to make a game of it.
"We have two home games and we have to keep our morale, our spirit, keep our heads up but also be good enough to be realistic about what we need to improve on.
"The quality of the opposition was very good and had a big effect on our defenders.
"We've had a good goals against column of late and some good performances, so we have to keep working hard and have spells in games where the other side may be on top but we don't let them have chances, like we did today.
"We were open at the back and Derby always looked like scoring."
