WATCH: TIM SPIERS' update on Wolves' Dicko bombshell
Wolves' last-minute search for a striker to replace the injured Nouha Dicko came to nothing on transfer deadline day.
Boss Kenny Jackett revealed 'multiple bids' were lodged for both permanent and loan signings to replace Dicko.
Yann Kermorgant, Frazier Campbell, Joe Mason and Nick Blackman were among those linked with a last-minute move to Molineux.
Dicko has been a key member of the team since he joined from Wigan in January 2014, scoring 29 goals in 65 games.
He tore his anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday's 2-1 Championship victory over Charlton, ruling him out for nine months. He'll have surgery next week.
Jackett said: "It's a huge blow. I'm devastated for him. He's got to be strong enough now mentally to overcome it.
"If this season is written off, which it does look the majority of it or all of it will be, then he's got to make sure he's as good as he possibly can be, whether it's not next summer or whenever he does get back.
"I really feel for him and obviously for the club as well, to lose your centre forward just a few games in is a tough one.
"But we have to adapt. Long term injuries do happen and we have to adapt and move on."
The injury leaves Wolves without the top three players from their 2014-15 Player of the Season vote, with Richard Stearman sold to Fulham and Bakary Sako having left on a free transfer.
Head of medical Phil Hayward described how the injury happened. He said: "He's had his left foot taken by the defender.
"That dragged him one way and, as his right foot's planted he's rotated and twisted, unfortunately the ligament's gone. He's torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
"There's some cartilage damage in there, as well. The plan of action is to have surgery next weekend then he'll be out for nine months after that."
Meanwhile Rajiv van La Parra is back at Wolves after Leeds pulled out of signing him.
