Wolves hand trial to Crewe winger Ryan Colclough
Wolves have taken young Crewe winger Ryan Colclough on trial.
The 20-year-old is out of contract at Gresty Road but has been training with Crewe during the summer.
He has featured in two pre-season games but has yet to sign a new deal with Crewe and so is free to speak to other clubs.
Wolves boss Kenny Jackett travelled to watch Colclough when Crewe played Newcastle Town earlier this month - but the winger didn't play in the game.
Colclough is expected to feature when Wolves take on Doncaster Rovers tomorrow having been named in Jackett's squad.
If Wolves did move to take Colclough permanently they would either have to agree a fee with Crewe or take it to a tribunal, as Colclough is aged under 24.
He has been at Crewe since he was nine years old and is highly thought of at Gresty Road.
However right-footed Colclough, who plays on either flank or off the striker, has seen his appearances restricted due to injury and off-the-field issues.
He has been involved in two court cases in recent months.
Last October he was cleared of a racist attack on a nightclub bouncer. Colclough was accused of assaulting door supervisors Mo Khan and Stuart Mann on a night out in Hanley, but a jury found Colclough not guilty of all three charges against him.
And then in January of this year he was fined after admitting a charge of obstructing or resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty.

Crewe boss Steve Davis - a Wolves fan who was interviewed for the top job at Molineux in summer 2013 but was pipped by Jackett - said earlier this week that Colclough wouldn't be allowed to leave on the cheap.
"We've got to be strong in our stance and we will be to get as much as we possibly can. We have to be strong in our values, what we believe in and we will be," he told the Stoke Sentinel.
"We can't allow players to go for nothing as ultimately we would not have a football club or a business. We have to protect the future of a football club by being strong.
"We have a figure in our head and if there's a club interested we want to try to get what we deserve.
"He's been here a long time, a lot of coaches have spent time working with him and developing his game and there has to be some reward for that.
"He won't be allowed to go on the cheap, we will be looking for a figure that we think is fair."
Colclough has been offered a new deal to stay with Crewe but has yet to sign - although it is not thought that money is the sticking point.
Ideally for Crewe the winger would sign a new contract and they would then not stand in his way of a potential transfer in January or next summer.
Burslem-born Colclough has made 33 appearances for Crewe, scoring five goals.
After a long spell out of the side he made the perfect comeback in March towards the end of last season, scoring a goal-of-the-season contender with a 90th minute winner as Crewe won 2-1 against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
He is in a large squad of 24 for tomorrow's trip to Doncaster - Wolves' last pre-season game before they start their league campaign against Blackburn Rovers next Saturday.
Jackett is expected to play a different team in each half after 11 of his players played the full 90 minutes in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at Molineux on Tuesday.
Kevin McDonald misses out with a back injury, while Jed Wallace and George Saville are still on the sidelines with knee injuries.
Youngsters Connor Ronan, Bright Enobakhare and Bradley Reid all feature.
Full squad: Ikeme, McCarey, Doherty, Iorfa, Stearman, Hause, Ebanks-Landell, Hayden, Golbourne, Deslandes, Henry, Colclough, Coady, Evans, Price, Rowe, Edwards, Ronan, Van La Parra, Graham, Dicko, Afobe, Reid, Enobakhare.
