Wolves season tickets top the 13,000 mark

Wolves have already smashed the 13,000 barrier for season ticket sales as fans gear up for a promotion challenge.

The number is more than 500 up on this time last year and it continues a big increase on early bird sales reported last month.

Season tickets went on general sale earlier this week and fans have been snapping them up ahead of the 2015-16 campaign starting on August 8.

It's understood last year's total sales were only around the 14,000 mark. It is a far cry from 2013.

After relegation to League One, Molineux bosses suffered the ignominy of having to fork out £260,000 to season ticket holders after promising a rebate in the event of dropping out of the Championship.

For the League One season they fell below the 10,000 mark for sales for the first time in decades.

Albert Bates, chairman of the Wolverhampton Wanderers Official Supporters Club, reckon there's a noticeable feel-good factor around Molineux following two successful seasons.

He said: "The fans are joyous again. I sincerely would like to see the ground full to capacity again and, hopefully, that can happen more next season.

"I think people are buying into what Kenny Jackett is doing at the moment."What he's done is remarkable. I'm hoping we'll be in the top three next season – I think we will do well."

Last season Wolves resorted to a charm offensive in a bid to shift more tickets in the wake of promotion from League One.

Tickets are more expensive now than during the early bird offer, which expired in March.

But sales are still expected to do well between now and August, particularly after the fixtures are announced and more signings are brought in.

Prices are also up on last year, with a £384 ticket behind either goal working out at £17.22 per game – 61p up on 2014-15.
