The 29-year-old was at Compton today to put pen to paper on a deal until December 31.

Graham arrives just a day after Wolves announced the departure of another loan striker, Yannick Sagbo, who returned to Hull City after an unsuccessful spell.

The former Middlesbrough, Swansea, Watford and Carlisle target man, whose estimated £40,000-a-week wages are understood to have blocked a move to Molineux in the summer, could be the much-needed physical presence Wolves have been seeking up front.

But with just one appearance under his belt for the Black Cats this season, they will be hoping he is match-fit, unlike Sagbo.

That was as an 88th-minute substitute in a 2-1 home defeat to Stoke in the Capital One Cup, and he is behind Connor Wickham, Steven Fletcher and Emmanuele Giaccherini in the pecking order at the Stadium of Light.

But Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett will be hoping the Gateshead-born frontman can repeat the form that saw Sunderland pay £5m to take him back to his native north east in January 2013.

Graham, who has 18 months left on his Sunderland contract, has scored 101 goals in 341 career League appearances, including 276 starts, since starting his career at Boro in 2003.

His biggest success was at Watford, where he netted 38 times in 92 Championship games from 2009-11 to earn a £3.5m move to Premier League Swansea, where he netted 15 times in 54 top-flight matches.

His Championship credentials are reinforced by the fact he was the division's top scorer in 2010-11 with 27 goals, with 24 in the league.

Graham's career took an upward curve with a loan move to Carlisle in January 2007 with seven goals in 11 games to earn a permanent switch to Brunton Park.

He went on to score 30 times in 91 League games for the Cumbrians.

Graham has only made 13 League appearances for Sunderland and spent last season out on loan at Hull then Middlesbrough, scoring once in 18 for the Tigers in the Premier League then six in 18 in the Championship for Boro.

Earlier in his career Graham also had loan spells at Darlington, Derby, Leeds and Blackpool.
