Midfielder George Saville today declared he has joined Wolves because it's a "proper club."

The 21-year-old midfielder left Chelsea for a three-year contract at Molineux in a deal believed to be worth around £1million this week.

Saville chose Wolves ahead of several other Championship clubs, including interest from Wigan and Middlesbrough, who wanted him on loan.

And the left-footed youngster, who spent last season on loan at Brentford, believes he is swapping one big club for another after leaving Stamford Bridge.

"I just think it's a proper football club," said Saville. "It's big, it's ambitious, the squad looks strong, there's a really good chance of progressing and I just want to be part of it."

Saville believes his signing was in a large part down to the trust shown in head coach Kenny Jackett by the board.

"He was keen on getting me and I think he presented to the board well and they obviously trust him," he said.

"It was ongoing all summer. The gaffer showed an interest and it's a good opportunity for me to come and play.

"I'm delighted to be signing, I just wanted to get started now, and look forward to Saturday."

Saville joins a competitive Wolves midfield with him and Tommy Rowe available for the first time for Saturday's visit of Blackburn.

But the Surrey-born player believes he can bring different qualities.

"I'm a box-to-box midfielder and I like a tackle," he said. "It's always good to score a goal but I quite enjoy the ugly side as well.

"I think I can bring a few things; a different way of playing. I can play, I can do the ugly side, I can try to bring goals to the team and bit of security for the back four when it's needed."

Saville knows about Wolves having been promoted with them with Brentford last season, scoring four goals in 40 League games.

And he believes his new side could challenge for a second successive promotion.

"League One's tough, it's different but we coped with it well," he said. "Both Brentford and Wolves did well to get promoted.

"To have a promotion on your CV is fantastic, the feeling of going up's great so it was really pleasing.

"I think we've got a chance. It's a long season so you don't want to get ahead of yourself and be thinking about April-May time.

"You've just got to think about now and getting a good run together, pick up the points and go from there."
