Michael Jacobs urges Wolves to keep up the pressure

Michael Jacobs today urged in-form Wolves to keep winning to maintain the pressure on the League One's top two as they waited for a transfer window breakthrough.

Tuesday's 3-0 win at Oldham was Wolves' third straight victory, yet the runaway form of Brentford and Leyton Orient means Kenny Jackett's side remain in third place, two points off the pace for automatic promotion.

The Bees have won 15 out of their last 17 League games – the other two were drawn against Wolves and Walsall – to lead the table by two points.

The Os have won five out of their last six, dropping their only points in that sequence in the 1-1 draw at Molineux on December 29.

Jacobs scored one and made one at Boundary Park, netting his first strike since becoming a £200,000 permanent signing from Derby and his second in 12 games for the club.

But the former Northampton winger stressed the importance of continuing to pile up the points to hunt down the Londoners.

"The top two keep on winning and we know we've got to keep putting pressure on them by producing performances and results like that," said the 22-year-old.

"We've got to make it tough for them to hang onto the top two spaces because we want to get in there ourselves.

"We look at their results and we have to because they're the teams we're chasing.

"They're both flying at the minute and keep on winning so we know what we need to do."

Jacobs revealed Wolves are two-thirds of the way through their task of winning all three games in eight days, with Bradford, the next visitors to Molineux, completing the trilogy on Saturday.

"We want nine points from nine this week and hopefully we can take these two wins into the Bradford game," he said.
