Wolves' Jamie O'Hara: I was wrong
Apologetic Jamie O'Hara today insisted he was wrong to fall out with Wolves fans and has asked them to give him a second chance.
After a four-month exile, the £5m midfielder has been welcomed back to the first-team squad by head coach Kenny Jackett and taken off the transfer list.
The 27-year-old midfielder says he is a changed man and is anxious to rebuild bridges with the supporters he upset on the final day of last season at Brighton when the club was relegated from the Championship.
O'Hara revealed his relief to be back in first-team contention in an interview this afternoon.
"I wasn't playing to the best I could and I was disappointed and frustrated with getting relegated," said the former Tottenham man.
"I took a bit of stick, I reacted and it was the wrong thing to do; I didn't control my emotions.
"I never really had the chance to apologise for that."
O'Hara, who could return to action in Saturday's visit of Stevenage, after his surprise appearance on the bench for the 2-1 win at Bradford last weekend, admitted his performances on the pitch will determine fans' reaction to him.
But he is confident he can win supporters over again.
"I've made some mistakes and got some stick I deserved and some stick I think I didn't deserve, but it's nice to finally get back in there," he added.
"I have to let my football do the talking and help with some good performances. I think I have something to offer."
O'Hara insists his exile, which has seen him train and play with the under-21s squad since June, has humbled him.
"What's happened to me over the last four months has definitely humbled me and made me a different person," he said.
"It's also made me appreciate how much I love playing football.
"Kenny has seen me showing a good attitude. I haven't complained, I've just got my head down and taken it on the chin."
O'Hara, who has more than two-and-a-half years on his contract, has failed to attract a single enquiry since being transfer-listed in June.
And he now insists he is happy to remain at Molineux.
"I'm glad to hopefully get a second chance to prove to the fans I want to be at the club," he said.
"This has definitely been a low point in my career but hopefully I can have a fresh start."
