Dave Edwards out for a month in new Wolves blow

Wolves have been dealt a further injury blow after Dave Edwards was ruled out until the new year.

The Wales international was stretchered off after an hour of Saturday's 4-1 win at Bristol City with a torn hamstring.

Manager Stale Solbakken said the midfielder will miss the rest of the month.

"It's a torn hamstring, so December has gone for him," said the boss.

"I didn't really see how he did it, but it's a bad one. He just went straight down in the corner. That may be down to him playing too many games lately, but he hasn't really had a choice.

"December is going to be a hard month for us before the other long-term injuries come back."

Edwards became Wolves' 10th casualty, joining Wayne Hennessey, Jamie O'Hara, Steven Mouyokolo, Slawomir Peszko, Razak Boukari, Stephen Hunt, George Elokobi, Georg Margreitter and Tongo Doumbia.

Doumbia should, however, be available to replace Edwards for Saturday's tea-time Molineux derby against Birmingham.

"If we can come through the month with a certain amount of points then I think everything can happen," said Solbakken.

"I've always known with these injuries that in time we'll grow as a team with or without a good transfer window. Four or five players will come back and compete for a place in January"

Meanwhile, Solbakken hailed Bjorn Sigurdarson, who scored his third goal for the club at the weekend

"Form-wise and physically, he's doing very well at the moment," said the boss.

"In the last four games, he's shown in his movement and his physical ability that he has the capability to do well."
