Boss Stale Solbakken today admitted £2.4m Wolves signing Bjorn Sigurdarson is finding it hard to adjust to the intensity of the English game.
The 21-year-old Iceland international has missed the last two Championship games with a minor back injury sustained in training. Sigurdarson has so far been used for just 47 minutes of the season in the Championship, over two substitute's appearances against Leeds and Barnsley, with his only start coming in the 3-1 Capital One Cup win against Northampton.
He also missed out on being selected or Iceland's 2-0 qualifying win over Norway on Friday, when Wolves team-mate Eggert Jonsson was an injury-time substitute.
"Bjorn has had a very disappointing time in terms of injuries," said Solbakken. "He hasn't had big injuries but he's had three small niggles – two which have kept him away from the training pitch for 10 days and the other for a week.
"He came on and had a positive 20 minutes in one of the matches and then got injured again.
"Maybe that has something to do with the intensity of English football – he hasn't been injured in the games, but afterwards.
"It could be that after putting so much into the games, it's taken a toll on the body afterwards. I thought he was our best player in the friendly against Southampton but after that game, he was injured for 10 days."
