West Brom's James Morrison BANS talk of EFL's charge of PSR breach from club's training ground

Baggies boss does not want to hear chat about financial fair play regulations among his squad.

Albion boss James Morrison revealed he has banned talk of the club’s charge for an alleged financial breach from the training base.

Morrison spoke with the club’s hierarchy upon the news breaking at the beginning of the week before addressing the squad with a mantra of business as usual.

The former midfielder then drew a strict line underneath the issue and insisted there will be no more talk of the profit and sustainability (PSR) charge and potential sanctions including a possible points deduction.

“I found out exactly when everyone else did and my stance on it is the same,” Morrison said. “It’s not in our hands.

“Our job is to be on the football side and not let that affect us and I believe it will bring us closer together, stronger than ever, to get the job done and we’ve done our job then and I’ll be happy

“I had a brief conversation with the people in charge and that’s what it was. Just a brief chat and then I talked to the players and that was it.

“I actually banned people from talking about it really because it’s not in our control so we can only control what we can control and that was the end of it really.

“As simple as that. I don’t want to hear about it. Obviously it’s a big story externally but not in here.”

Morrison added of the news: “As you can imagine, it was a little knock but that’s all it is.

“We’ve had this situation (relegation battle) for a number of weeks now so we know what we’ve got to do. It’s down to us. Keep working hard. Keep turning out performances, staying in games, enjoying the challenges.”

Focus returns to the Championship survival fight on the field at mid-table Preston on Saturday.

Entering the weekend’s action the Baggies, unbeaten in seven, had a two-point buffer to the drop zone.

Albion are boosted by the availability of Karlan Grant, Chris Mepham and Tammer Bany for the clash at Deepdale after several months out injured.
