WATCH: Tony Pulis hails two-goal Saido Berahino

Albion boss Tony Pulis has hailed Saido Berahino's sharp-shooting after the striker bagged a brace in today's FA Cup draw with Peterborough.

It was the 22-year-old's first start since October, and he repaid Pulis giving him a rare opportunity to play with two typically clinical goals.

With two days left in the January transfer window, there is still speculation surrounding Berahino's future at the club.

Even though he scored two goals today, Pulis still doesn't believe Berahino is back to his best.

"When you put Saido in front of goal he's a goal scorer, but he's not fit – his sharpness is nowhere near as good as it what it was last year," said the Albion head coach.

"Missing three or four months of football certainly knocks your fitness and sharpness but one thing you can't take away from the kid is when he gets in front of goal he's calm, and he's got that wonderful ability of putting the ball in the back of the net."

Pulis admitted he was rarely worried by Peterborough's attacking threat in their fourth round draw, but was left ruing a lack of concentration as the League One outfit earned a well-deserved replay.

Strikes from Shaquile Coulthirst and substitute Jon Taylor denied Albion an outright place in tomorrow's fifth round draw.

Both of the visitors' goals results from long balls forward, with Coulthirst's leveller coming after a mix up between Boaz Myhill and returning left-back Sebastian Pocognoli.

"It is disappointing, but it's cup football", said Pulis.

"I thought we started really well in the first 25 minutes and really in that time the game should have been put to bed.

"The longer the game goes on only one mistake brings them back into it, and obviously from the long ball down the middle Bo (Myhill) and Poco have left it for one another and the lad stepped in.

"I don't want to give no discredit to Peterborough, I thought they were brilliant today and in the second half they worked hard and just kept going, but I didn't really see them creating many chances.

"I didn't have my heart in my mouth at all and when Saido scores the second one you think that's going to be the end of it, as long as we concentrate.

"But again there's another long diagonal ball, we don't deal with it and they end up getting the goal."
