Ticket update: Sell-out nears as West Brom fans flock for Shrewsbury friendly

Tickets are running out for a first glimpse of the Baggies in UK friendly action this summer.

Albion will be backed in big numbers for the first public UK friendly of the summer as a Shrewsbury Town sell-out approaches.

James Morrison’s men will be followed by at least 3,000 Baggies supporters, with around 300 tickets left to be snapped up for the trip to Shropshire.

Albion have been given the West Stand at Croud Meadow, with a capacity of 3,300.

A couple of hundred tickets remain on sale at the League Two hosts and will remain on sale on the day until sold out.

It is the first opportunity for supporters to catch a glimpse of Albion’s class of 2026/27 under permanent head coach Morrison.

Previous friendlies have taken place behind closed doors at St George’s Park - a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday - and the 4-1 victory over Bromley in Portugal, watched by around 1,000 travelling fans.

Four new signings could be on display, attacking duo Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Barney Stewart, as well as defender Carter Pinnington and goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

On Friday it emerged former left-back Conor Townsend is poised to make a return to the Baggies on a one-year deal.

For scores of Albion fans it will be the opportunity to visit a new ground.

League Two Shrewsbury have not faced the Baggies since a July friendly of 2014 at their Meadow home, which was won 2-1 by the visitors.

Prior to that there were friendlies in 2008 and 2009 at the stadium, which opened in 2007. There was also a behind closed doors match at Albion’s training ground in 2023.

The clubs have not met competitively since the 1991/92 campaign and the old Division Three, with two clashes won by the Baggies.
